Open Pedagogy Toolkit: Module 4

Students as Creators

Open Pedagogy (OP) encourages you to intentionally design learning experiences that allow students to produce, share, and contribute work that has value beyond the classroom in the form of a renewable assignment, which we discussed in the previous module. By engaging with this section, you will explore strategies and practices for encouraging student autonomy as they become content creators in the classroom. You will also have opportunities to reflect on relevant ethical considerations to ensure that your open teaching practices are inclusive, respectful, and compliant with privacy standards.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explore strategies for involving students as co-creators of knowledge.
  2. Examine the benefits and challenges of student agency in OP.
