Open Pedagogy Toolkit: Module 3

Renewable Assignments

In this section, we will introduce the renewable assignment. While there are many types of OP assignments, renewable assignments are a powerful way to foster openness and enhance student motivation through more substantive involvement in the classroom. You will explore how renewable assignments differ from disposable assignments and why they are important to OP. You will have an opportunity to turn one of your current assignments, likely related to the course learning outcome you modified in Module 2,  into a renewable assignment.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explore the differences between disposable and renewable assignments.
  2. Envision ways to create or revise a disposable assignment into a renewable assignment.
