Open Pedagogy Toolkit: Module 1

Readings and Resources

A good resource for learning more about OP is Robin DeRosa and Rajiv Jhangi’s chapter, “Open Pedagogy”, in “A Guide to Making Open Textbooks with Students”. DeRosa and Jhangiani, well-known OP advocates and practitioners, describe how engaging students as active collaborators in creating open educational resources fosters deeper learning and equity. This chapter foremost provides practical strategies for implementing OP to enhance access, agency, and participation in the classroom.

Digging Deeper:

Benefits of Open Pedagogy in “The Open Pedagogy Student Toolkit, by Reyne Veiger, explains how OP benefits students by increasing engagement, fostering collaboration, and developing real-world skills through authentic, public-facing work. It also shows how these practices promote equity and empower learners as co-creators of knowledge.
