Open Pedagogy Toolkit: Module 5
tools and Technologies
We previously discussed OP, your values, renewable assignments, and working with students as creators. The next step is to explore tools and technologies that will help transform the pedagogical ideas you’ve been generating into a well-considered and implementable plan in your course.
Quick caveat: There are countless tools available to instructors to infuse OP into their teaching. We will only cover a select number of tools in this module. We have strategically chosen four adaptable tools that have been successfully used to support OP projects and are easy to use, so as to not overwhelm you or your students.
This module is an opportunity for you to explore these select tools and consider important criteria for evaluating their efficacy for student learning. You will have a chance to evaluate how these tools may support your OP implementation plan.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Explore digital tools that can support OP in your course (e.g., Pressbooks, Hypothes.is, Wikis).
- Evaluate platforms for accessibility and openness.
- Recognize Creative Commons licensing options.
