Barkley Business and Data Librarian

Barry “Scott” Barkley (BSIM 1966), a longtime supporter of Purdue Libraries, passed away in 2019, but he left a legacy to ensure his support would continue to make an impact. The endowed position of the Barkley Business and Data Librarian in the Roland G. Parrish Library of Management and Economics honors Scott’s wishes. This position expands the Libraries’ partnership with the Krannert School of Management working on digital assets, core data sets, and outreach. The Barkley Business and Data Librarian provides consultative learning opportunities such as formal workshops, reference consultations, instruction sessions, and online resource guides for business information.

After graduating from Purdue, Scott worked for Procter & Gamble before attending Indiana University to earn his MBA. He spent the rest of his career in banking and investments with companies such as Chase and Great Western Bank. He retired in 2005 from Encore Capital Group where he held executive and CFO positions. Scott was a former member of the Purdue Krannert School Alumni Association (KSAA).
